Taught by Kindergarten teacher, Cindy McNabb this drama will give children a playful first experience of creating characters and events from songs and fables. Please provide a healthy non-sugary snack on this day! Intermediate Drama Club!
Taught by director and drama teacher of 15 years, Amy Poux, this drama program will engage children in joyful, improvisational theatre games that range from the work of Viola Spolin • Augusto Boal. Veteran Acting Teacher and Director, Allyson Uzzle will lead this diverse group of young actors through a process of learning to act using improvisation theatre games and scripted scenes. Students will be immersed in their own artistic exploration as they learn about comedy, farce and contemporary drama from one our finest directors of young actors. Modern Dance
Elena Ladue will bring her vast and varied dance teaching experience to these after-school classes and immerse students in Modern Dance, expose them to a wide variety of music genres, and infuse discipline, posture, confidence, and joy in their dance experience. Musical Theater
Amy Poux (acting teacher), Elena LaDue (dance teacher) and a music accompanist (TBA) team up to teach this musical theatre club for teens. This program will culminate with the students’ own musical theatre presentation. Limit: 12 students. Please provide high-protein snack. Watercolor Painting
Painter, teaching artist and parent, Claire Wasser, extends her talents and skills to our younger students! Children learn the fundamental techniques of watercolor painting. Children will be offered a range of experiences in color, light, form, drawing and painting techniques as wonderful introduction to their own artistic expression. Maximum of 8 kids. Authentic Poetry For Girls
Poet and Educator, Jerrice Baptiste, will facilitate Authentic Poetry classes for girls to encourage their own self-expression through writing poetry. This program guides adolescent girls in discovering their self-confidence, and embracing their own uniqueness through poetry fun and games. Meaningful poetry from various writers will serve as inspirations for the girls’ poetry writing and lively group discussions. For the past five years, Jerrice has been empowering, supporting and inspiring girls and women through her Authentic Poetry program. She has offered her workshops at the Rosendale Youth Program, several of the Hudson Valley’s library programs and schools, the Benedictine Hospital’s Oncology Support Program, and substance abuse recovery programs.
